The American electric vehicle maker began gently breaking the news to its unsuspecting workers, who had until recently prided themselves on being the life-givers to the company’s shiny futuristic vehicles. These employees were a part of the company’s cell assembly lines in what was the inaugural phase of the automaker's factory in the financial heart of China - Shanghai. "The news hit us like a bolt out of the blue," shared a despondent worker, Zhou, "It's like someone pulled the plug on our output. But hey, at least, they've given it a cool name – charging leave.” Staying true to its spirit of innovation, it appears Tesla is not just stopping at reinventing what an automobile can be - now, it's reinventing lay-offs, too. To provide a silver lining to this dark thunderstorm of a revelation, the company has offered the affected workers a chance to switch to a different workshop, like stamping.
